My favorite time to visit the Falls is actually at the end of the winter. The waterfalls are still partially frozen but what a wonderful winter wonderland they appear to be! They almost look like dreamy underwater coral reefs, with the ice popsicles hanging down from the boulders and green water rushing through the rocks and cracks.
You will encounter few tourists. However, you are likely to meet some die-hard photographers, brave and passionate people, such as moi! Hey we are the Northern people in Canada, as most of you in the rest of the world may assume. However, it doesn't mean that our blood is not as hot and our landscape not welcoming.
By Easter, although the weather is still not warm and trees not completely green, the waterfalls are almost free flowing. What a powerful view it is. When standing by the Falls, can you imagine how the force of nature has worked its persistent way to sculpture the land into the deep gorges since the last Ice Age?
Fallsview Casino Resort is an upscale and modern tourist complex which includes a Casino, a hotel, a shopping mall with many restaurants and specialty stores, as well as a theatre where international entertainment stars are performing around the year. Your membership card at the casino will sometimes qualify you for free tickets. Ask the casino to find out.
The popularity of the Falls increases with the rise of temperature. There are so many things you can do in this paradise. Niagara Parkway is laced with beautifully landscaped gardens and seasonal decorations. It is a pleasure to stroll in the paths and take it all in.
If you ask me if there is one thing you must do when you visit the Falls, I will tell you not to miss the opportunity to take a ride with the Maid of the Mist. The boat will take you against the turbulent currents and go as close to the Falls as safety requirements allow. As the wind brings the splashing water all over your raincoat, and you hear the exciting cries of your boat mates with the thundering waterfalls, you will gain a sense of adventure and be left with unforgettable memories.
Rainbows are frequently seen around the Falls. May it take you to a pot of gold and the friendly people during your visit.
When the darkness descends upon the earth, the waterfalls and Niagara Falls City will reveal its nightly glory to you. Both waterfalls are under nightly colorful illumination. Your visit to the Falls is not complete without seeing the Falls at night.
Niagara Falls City, Ontario, is frequently serviced by VIA Rail, Go Train, Greyhound Bus and Coach Canada Bus. Coach Canada and Safeway Travel also run shuttle buses between Toronto and Fallsview Casino many times a day, at nominal costs for the holders of the Fallsview Casino Player Card. There are also free hotel shuttle buses between the Canadian side and the airport in Buffalo, New York, USA. Ask your hotel reception for more information.
Be safe and bon voyage!
You must see Niagara Falls at least once in your life, especially if you live in North America.
When you enjoy the wonderful views, keep in mind that the turquoise green water can be dangerous with turbulent rapids and currents. You mustn't try to swim in the river. Drowning incidents happens almost every year.
Be safe and bon voyage!
