Do you know where the Capital of Waterfalls (or City of Waterfalls) is in the world?
Here is a clue, it is in Ontario, Canada!
I cannot claim that I have been to many of the waterfalls in Hamilton, as it is said there are over one hundred. However, I can share a few photos for the perhaps most scenic and famous waterfalls among them, that is Webster's Falls in Spencer Gorge / Webster's Falls Conservation Area.
Even though we have Nigara Falls in Ontario, Webster's Falls has its own charm to attract many visitors from all parts of the world.
From the parking lot, the trail to the waterfalls is not a long one. However, it is hilly at certain sections.
From the historic Cobblestone Bridge lookout to the lower part of the waterfalls, there are still steep stairs to walk. Fortunately it was just a short climb.
Webster's Falls
Webster's Falls, a curtain waterfall, is said to be the most famous among all the waterfalls in Hamilton. The sedimentary rocks were formed between 450 and 150 million years ago. Dolomite limestone is the main geological features in the area.
The Spencer Gorge was carved by melting glacial water from 10,000 years ago.
Spencer Gorge and Creek
Spencer Creek can be a turbulent rapids in spring and summer. However, the water level is often shallow.
In autumn, the water level is even lower and the creek sometimes becomes some tranquil reflective pools. It is possible to cross the creek through some stepping stones.
It is a part of the popular Bruce Trail along Niagara Escarpment. If you are fit, you will enjoy hiking or rock climbing in the scenic Spencer Gorge.

There are many other beautiful waterfalls in Hamilton region.
I will make other hubs when I have more time. For the time being, I am going to add the photos of Albion Falls and Great Falls so you can have an initial peek.

Great shots! I've not seen the lovely sight but have long planned to. Now I must.
Nice photos - what camera do you use?
Wow! those are some of the best photographs that I have seen in some time. I enjoyed the beauty of each waterfall... its like fresh water after a parched day!! Thank you for sharing! Feeling so refreshed.
Great photos of Hamilton's falls!
It looks like you visited Webster's Falls at low flow. You should come back again to see it at high flow as it looks much more impressive!
Did you find the pathway to walk behind Webster's Falls?
